Applications and Software Pre-Requisites
The ConstructSim product suite is comprised of four
separate application installations. These application installations operate
together based on whether the target computer is intended for use by an
Administrator or a Field User. In addition, a Virtual Construction Model (VCM)
database is deployed onto a server class machine to provide a work-sharing
environment for the collective team of administrative and field users. The
following sections document the system requirements for the
CONNECT EditionUpdate 2 version of the product suite:
A CD drive or access to the Internet is required for product installation.
Bentley does not support its software running on Microsoft operating systems versions that Microsoft has "retired” (see Microsoft's application retirement policy).
ConstructSim Planner requires a machine running the Windows 7 (64-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit), or Windows 10 (64-bit) operating system.
Application Installations
The set of application installations include:
- ConstructSim Planner: Primary virtual environment user interface for interaction in a Virtual Construction Model.
- ConstructSim Executive: Workflow execution engine and associated utilities for generating and updating a Virtual Construction Model.
- ConstructSim Standard Template: Pre-packaged, but configurable data mining and reporting user interfaces for the Field User.
- ConstructSim Work Package Server: A web-based interface that follows the complete life cycle of a work package and stores the engineering data and information modeling for a project.
Software Pre-Requisites
The Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications are installed automatically to your workstation as part of the installation of the product.
In addition to the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop
Applications,
ConstructSim Planner also requires the following
Microsoft applications:
- Microsoft Office 2013/2016 with Access Professional, Word and Excel.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer v10.0 or later with 128-bit cipher strength.
- Microsoft Windows Identity Foundation.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition SP2 or better with SQL Server Report Services (SSRS) Server for the VCM Server. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition SP2 must be installed on all client machines running ConstructSim Planner.
- Include SQL Server Reporting Services during the installation. This SQL Server is required for the Production server. Either SQL Server or SQL Express can be used for Data Processing. Hosting the Data Processing SQL Server on a different machine can significantly reduce performance.
